Forward Corp. announced today it will partner with YMCA Camp Timbers of West Branch for the company’s 35th annual charity golf outing.
“Camp Timbers is a wonderful place that is near and dear to Forward’s heart,” Forward Corp. President Abby Moniz said. “We’re excited to be able to support a great organization.”
YMCA Camp Timbers is a branch of the YMCA of Saginaw and offers overnight camps and trips to kids from across the Great Lakes Bay Region and beyond. Located on 300 acres near West Branch, the camp includes a private lake, zip lines, climbing tower, horses, and much more. Campers enjoy a full schedule of outdoor activities and friendships in the weeklong summer camp programs.
“In light of everything that has happened this last year, we expect families may need additional scholarship support to make camp possible for their kids,” said Camp Timbers Director Brian Miller. “Forward’s support will allow us to send a number of kids to camp who come from families that otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it.”
The 2021 camp season will be the first at YMCA Camp Timbers since 2019 as the camp did not open in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions. Forward also did not hold its outing last year for the same reason, but still donated over $8,000 to Special Olympics, a longtime outing partner. Since 2017, the Forward golf outing has raised over $81,000.
This year’s outing takes place on Aug. 30 at The Nightmare Golf Course in West Branch. It is comprised entirely of Forward employees and company vendors and expects to raise upwards of $20,000 for Camp Timbers.
Camp programs are open to kids, ages 7 to 17. For more information and registration, visit CampTimbers.org.
