Forward Corp. announced today that it will donate a portion of fuel sales at its Shell locations in August and September to the American Cancer Society (ACS) and its fight to end childhood cancer. Unfortunately, cancer is the second leading cause of death in children under the age of 15 in the US. Together, they are working to save lives and prevent suffering at every age and every stage.
“Cancer impacts almost everyone, but it is especially difficult when a child is involved,” said Forward Corp. President Abby Moniz. “We are proud to partner with the American Cancer Society through Shell’s Giving Pump program to help raise money that will not only support children and their families, but go towards research that will help end childhood cancer.”
As part of Shell’s national Giving Pump program, one pump at all 26 Forward Shell convenience stores will be designated as the “Giving Pump” with 1¢ being donated to the ACS for every gallon of fuel pumped at that dispenser. The program began Aug. 1 and runs through Sept. 30.
The designated Giving Pump dispenser at each store will be adorned with graphics that identifies it as the Giving Pump and notes the American Cancer Society as Forward’s charitable partner of choice. Through the program, Forward was given the choice to select a partner organization that would benefit children and/or their families.
“The American Cancer Society honors all the researchers, caregivers, survivors and health care providers who tirelessly fight childhood cancer every day. While substantial progress has been made against the most common types of pediatric cancers and overall survival rates are up, more hard work remains so more children with cancer not only survive but thrive.” said Ginger Feldman, Corporate Relations Director at American Cancer Society. “Partners like Forward Corp. help us deliver a brighter future, with less cancer for children, and we are grateful for their commitment.”
To celebrate the kickoff of the campaign, Forward will host an event on Wed. Aug 11 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place at Forward’s Bay City Shell location, 6180 Westside Saginaw Rd., and feature a live radio remote with The Rock Station Z93.
